The Greatest Showman - Circus Theme

Roll up, Roll up! Your Circus-Themed Wedding is Here!

You’d like to host a circus-themed wedding but are unsure where to start. No problem! Prospero Weddings can help you plan a ‘Big Top’ day to remember.

Why choose a circus-themed wedding?

  • Put simply, it brings everyone together on your special day and is a whole lot of fun.
  • From tots to teens and all the way up to grandparents, a circus-themed wedding allows your guests to relax, laugh, marvel and participate.
  • A Big Top inspired venue creates an unforgettable and magical atmosphere, with everyone immersed in your bespoke celebration.

Are all circus-themed weddings the same?

Absolutely not. You get to choose all the little touches that suit you best. With Prospero’s help (and the addition of brilliant circus-themed decorations and entertainment) your circus wedding can go many ways. Some couples prefer a ‘Sophisticated Circus’ vibe and a hint of Vintage is always popular. But if what you really want is a fun-packed day of joyous entertainment, then a Carnival or Fairground theme will get the show going.

What makes a good circus wedding venue?

Don’t panic, it doesn’t have to be a Big Top! A circus wedding lends itself to both large and small weddings, and most venues, including tents or marquees, country barns or hotels, will do the job brilliantly. It’s the atmosphere that really matters, and Prospero Weddings can recreate an authentic, ambient experience almost anywhere. Using a backdrop of bold theatrical colours (picture red, black and gold) we also source and supply festoon lighting, carousels, carnival games, colourful bunting and rich velvet ceiling drapes.

Does Prospero Weddings arrange circus entertainment?

You bet we do. We have access to a wide range of and immersive performers to charm, delight and WOW your guests. Whatever your tastes, trust Prospero to supply entertainment performers such as acrobats, jugglers, tightrope walkers, stilt walkers, magnificent modern aerialists, exhilarating acro balancing acts and bubble shows. Even our waiting team will be in costume, making your celebration a true night at the circus!

How do we (and our guests) dress the part?

There’s no restriction on imagination, so do encourage everyone to arrive in circus-themed attire such as vintage circus costumes, bold colours and playful accessories. Outfits can also be inspired by circus performers such as ringleaders, acrobats and clowns. Go for the complete look or select a few fabulous elements: a top hat, colourful bow-tie, quirky waistcoat or dramatic tailcoat is often enough. And don’t worry if you can’t locate the costumes you want; Prospero Weddings offers a personal “Dress Your Guests” service, for those who need help or inspiration.

Circus Inspired food and drinks

You don’t need a circus-themed wedding buffet or meal, but some circus-inspired refreshments will add to the immersive atmosphere. Consider carnival and circus classics such as candy floss, hot dogs, popcorn and drop doughnuts (who doesn’t love them when they’re having fun?). On the booze side, why not create cocktails inspired by your circus themes, such as a Ringmaster Martini, Mr Barham’s Fizz Surprise or a Flying Trapeze mocktail?

Can we Personalise our wedding invitations and favours?

Definitely – there’s lots of scope for this. Beautiful, hand-drawn circus-themed wedding invitations are lovely to receive. They’ll also start your guests picturing your special day and how they will choose to dress. And what about personalised wedding favours, such as mini jars of popcorn or individual circus tickets? On the day, consider a renting a custom photo booth where guests can create and take home their own image for a wonderful wedding memory.

It’s your Circus-themed Wedding Day – Enjoy!

The most important part of planning a circus-themed wedding is to have fun. Whether you ultimately prefer the circus element to be a gentle inspiration or a full-on immersive event, its creativity and individuality will shine through. Your guests will love it, and so will you.
